How to Perform Car Stereo Installation

While a new car stereo can be a big improvement to your car, it can also cost a fair amount of money for car stereo installation. Fortunately, you can perform car stereo installation yourself. Not only can you learn a great deal about your new stereo and your car but you can also save hundreds or even thousands of dollars on having to hire a professional to take care of the installation for you.

One of the first things to know for car stereo installation is that it can be especially easy in most cases because the car stereo has sockets that are specially shaped and will make it easier for installing your stereo. Of course you should remember to be especially careful and follow the instructions for installation exactly so that it will be easier to do.

For car stereo installation you should only focus on items that you know you will be able to install. If you are new to car stereo installation then you should start with a smaller system at first. Complicated items like an LCD screen or movable parts that are motorized should be left to professionals who work in car stereo installation.

The easiest stereo system for car stereo installation is that of a head unit. Most head units will fit into most cars because of size standards in most cars. Sometimes a small kit will be needed to get the head unit into the space in the event that the space is not large or deep enough.

Mounting is something that you will need to do for your stereo. ISO mounting is one of the types that can be done. This is where a radio can be screwed onto the space because it fits onto radio brackets that are already on the car. This is generally featured on Japanese cars, but other cars have the same brackets.

Ring mounting is another type of mounting for car stereo installation. This is where a radio comes with a ring that is mounted onto the factory radio spot or any kit that you will have to install into the car. The ring generally needs to be filed so that it can fit into the hole. After it is installed the radio can easily slide into the spot and be fastened in easily.

Speakers should be handled properly for car stereo installation. You will need to fit your speakers into specific factory locations but should not have any holes or gaps in the area so that the sound will be transported properly. In the event that you are going to want a speaker in an unconventional location you should contact a professional installer, as metal will need to be cut in most of these cases.

There are also accessories for your car stereo installation that can help you to reduce the level of vibrations and other noises. Carpeting for the panels and liners or adhesive strips can be especially helpful.
